Daily expenses should be within their means, financial distribution should be balanced, luxury should be prohibited, and surplus money needs to be saved to be prepared. Sima Guang also wrote an article entitled "Training and Thrift and Shikang", in which he used his own experience to tell his son Sima Kang and his descendants to practice thrift and oppose extravagance and waste.
